Once the construction was finished, we had to clean the school from top to bottom. The oher evenings we also spent some time doing a little cultural exchange by taking some time to share in some local food and learning a few traditional Albanian dances. Everyone had a blast! And yes, there are new dances to teach anyone who wants to learn!

Last night at our evening program we talked a little bit about leaving well. About the importance of saying goodbye after a great week of hard work and lots of laughter. I suspect tonight’s departure will be a little sad for many; yet, most are ready to be back with family, friends, and yes…even pets;) Indeed Peje/Pec has been a great experience for us all. And the vast sense of hospitality we have received will not be forgotten.

Below you will see a few photos from the both. Each celebration was a fun time with students of all ages. It was great to hear stories from the vairious officials about how these type projects were beneficial, needed, and welcomed.

All in all, our team is pretty exctied about everything we have accomplished in this short trip! Thanks so much as well to the KFOR Slovenia team for providing our lunch today. It was very good.

Also, the internet is working very slow today. If there is not another post today, I will try to get something up while in our mystery destination during return. We set out late tonight on the drive. Everyone is packing up as we speak.

See you Thursday around noon. We’ll have students text message when we are a little bit more sure if we will be later or earlier. As you know, this depends on the borders.

The primary school was very very receptive to all of the tracks and each of them taught young students for at least three hours per day, for three days. It was good fun and quite the learning opportunity for all the young people from Geneva. With a little luck, they’ll understand a little bit more about how the their own teachers feel every day;)

And how about that arts & crafts track, can they face paint or what?

There is a variety of photos here. The waters falls you will see are from a nearby series of water falls we visited on our day out. The standing on tables, and searching through lighting, is from the candy hunt. And of course, the cakes…are birthday celebrations. We found a great little bakery not far from the hotel that does a great job.

It has been fun these last few days as you will soon see for yourself.

Today, you’re going to get quite a few posts though. Like the video below of the drama and music track after they had spent the day with the students from the local Arts school. This is fun video and quite catches the drama/music track in true form.

In this set of photos you see the raising of the posts in preparation for cement and setting. Especially notice the workers from the drama/music group who were determined to raise a set of the posts themselves. Bravo ladies!

While many of the Geneva students have worked in classrooms or picked up trash with these students all week long, we wanted to give them the opportunity to hear ‘first hand’ what the local students had envisioned for their school, community and country.

While you will not see the faces of every young person from Geneva in these few photos, they were all there. It was a great experience of story sharing and vision casting.

During our time with the Mayor, he told us he appreciated our coming to participate in the many projects around Peje/Pec, invited us to return to work with the municipality at any time, and presented us with a collection of poetry written by children from the local schools.

It was a great exprience for all of us to meet with the Mayor and others. The students did a great job representing the international schools of Geneva, Interyouth, their diverse nationalities, and their families. I am sure you would have each been very proud!

But don’t just take my word on it, hear it from them in this interview just minutes after the students left the gym. At one point, you can even hear the students from Kosova barging back in for more fun!
